January 2024 updates from PFS Network
Our 2024 fundraising campaign is off to a strong start, thanks to some generous contributions and grant funding secured in January.
Last month we announced our 2024 fundraising campaign with a target of €200,000 and a focus on getting more family members & loved ones to donate.
We’re very pleased to have secured €63,400 in funding in January, bringing us to over a quarter of our annual target already.
This is our second strongest ever month in fundraising terms and we are sincerely thankful to everyone who contributed.
What’s more encouraging is the ratio of donations from family & loved ones and the average size of those donations.
19% of donations received in January came from loved ones, up from less than 5% in 2023.
The average amount contributed by loved ones was €4130.
Thank you to patients who asked their loved ones to get involved and thank you to the families who contributed.
We also received €30,000 in grant funding to expand our genetics study using the FinnGen database.
These funds are crucial to ensuring that we meet best-case research timelines. For more information about why our 2024 campaign is so important and how these funds will be allocated, check out our 2024 campaign page.
We urge more patients to follow this example and ask their family & loved ones to get involved. We can only move faster with their support.
Genetics study updates
Sample collection for our genetics study is also going strong with 50% of samples received back to our sequencing partner. So far we’ve mailed almost 150 kits.
Our sequencing partner, Dante Labs, has begun sequencing and will soon start shipping data to Dr Alfonso Urbanucci at The University of Tampere.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. It is an enormous logistical effort which we’re thankful has gone smoothly so far.
If you would like to participate in this study, we’re still accepting applications.
